SOPA Debate Blocked Through Interdict

The State of the Province debates that were meant to take place this afternoon at the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature, did not. The opposition won an urgent court interdict to stop MEC John Block from having unlimited time during the SOPA debate. The Speaker, however, wanted more time to study the court interdict and, after delaying members and visitor for over an hour, he postponed the debates. The opposition is of the opinion that the ANC is trying everything in its power to impede the democratic processes of a fair debate, and also to push the profile of the notorious Mr Block, who despite facing corruption charges, indirectly holds the reigns to controlling provincial government.
