DA Launches Fund To Save Pilgrim’s Rest Jobs

Dr Wilmot James MP

DA Federal Chairperson

In our continuing efforts to save the jobs and livelihood of Pilgrims Rest residents, the DA today launched the Save Pilgrim’s Rest trust fund, in a town of immense historical significance.

The trust will be used to fund the operational costs of the legal representation of 17 applicants in their dispute with the provincial Department of Public Works, whose questionable tender processes have compromised not only local businesses, but the jobs and job security of over 130 workers and their dependents.

Every job matters, and with most jobs in South Africa being created by small and medium enterprises in South Africa, the DA will not be idle and watch jobs being destroyed. While the Mpumalanga government continues to hamper the prosperity of small businesses, the DA believes that small business will pioneer job creation in South Africa, and Pilgrims Rest is no different.

The DA therefore appeals to all South Africans, who care about Pilgrims Rest, its heritage and the jobs of residents, to contribute generously to the fund, for purposes of covering legal costs. The details are as follows:

Steenkamp Trust

Absa Bank
