Are There A Cash Flow Problems In The Free State?

It appears that there are cash flow problems in the Free State Provincial government.

There are several instances where the provincial government is failing to deliver on its mandate to build a unified and prosperous Free State. The DA is especially concerned about the following:

§ There has not been one meeting of the provincial portfolio committee for finance this financial year. As a result, there is no oversight or accountability to the finances in the province.

§ Several housing projects in the Free State have not commenced.

§ Road infrastructure projects remain unfinished whilst our roads network is decaying every day.

The Democratic Alliance in the Free State recently requested the Free State MEC for Finance to indicate whether the province is indeed experiencing a cash flow problem (letter attached). With reports of possible shuffles in the provincial government, it appears the Free State Government has become financially unstable.

Treasury is the core financial department that is responsible for managing our money in the Free State to the extent that our residents benefit from the money that should be used to redress especially the circumstances of the poor in the province.
