DA Gauteng Education Spokesperson
With 11 days to go until this year’s matric final exams DA Gauteng Education Spokesperson Khume Ramulifho MPL will today visit Centurion College in Hillbrow. This school received only half its state subsidy because its matric pass rate was below the provincial average.
The purpose of the visit is to assess the impact of the funding cut and to evaluate whether this is an effective incentive to encourage enhanced performance. The DA-led Western Cape provincial government has made positive strides to increase the pass rate of underperforming schools in that province.
The DA will put forward recommendations to the Gauteng Education Department on how schools such as Centurion College can be better assisted by the Department.
