I have requested the Provincial Police Commissioner to explain exactly how it is possible that a still functioning State school, located close to a police station, could be systematically dismantled by a mob over a couple of days and no action was taken to prevent this at the time.
A belated single arrest was apparently made after the fact.
How is this possible?
What is the function of the police if they are reduced to being simply passive observers during, at best, highly irregular activity in their area of jurisdiction?
The school is still functioning, the invasion took place over the weekend which means that SAPS must be extra vigilant, no authorisation was given for this activity and the on-going destruction was plainly visible to even a casual observer.
