Jack Bloom MPL DA Gauteng Spokesperson on Health Only 287 (27%) of 1047 staff posts at the newly built Jabulani Hospital in Soweto have been filled. This is revealed by Gauteng Health MEC Hope Papo in a written reply to my questions in the Gauteng Legislature. Nurse vacancies are the highest, with 549 out of 650 posts still unfilled. Only 14 out of 50 doctor posts have been filled. A number of administrative and finance posts have yet to be advertised. According to Papo, it is anticipated that all posts will be filled by June 2013, but I doubt that this will be the case. It’s a great pity that the slow progress in staffing this hospital is likely to further delay its opening to take in patients.
