2014 an opportunity to turn around KZN’s municipalities

ANY chance of the ANC achieving its target of clean municipal audits across KwaZulu-Natal appear even less likely given the political infighting so rife within the province’s municipalities.

The reality is that many ANC/NFP political coalitions are failing, with serious tensions even leading to bloodshed and council property being destroyed.  Poor financial management and corruption have further crippled service delivery, resulting is numerous protests by residents.  The recent revelation that some KZN municipalities have also failed to spend infrastructure grants only spells more bad news.

Clean, accountable and effective governance with proper service delivery is the right of every citizen in this province. Come 2014, voters have an opportunity to turn the failure of KwaZulu-Natal’s municipalities around.
