One ambulance at Malamulele Hospital cannot service the whole area

Desiree van der Walt MPL

DA Limpopo Spokesperson on Health

The Democratic Alliance has been reliably informed that Malamulele Hospital only has one ambulance to serve a vast area of villages.

To compound the matter it is also reported that only 2 people instead of   8 are reporting for duty per shift.

This is highly unacceptable as this hospital provides health care to a number of villages in the District.

The Legislature has recently passed a budget of R13 billion for 2013/14 financial year for the provincial department of health and of this R508 million has been set aside for Emergency Medical Services in the province.

We will be writing to MEC of Health Dr. Mabasa to urge him to use some of these funds to urgently attend to hospitals such as Malamulele where the situation is now dire.
