Suspend off-duty cop for alleged rape of 13 year old

The off-duty policeman allegedly caught in the act of raping a 13 year old Orange Farm girl must be suspended immediately.

Last week, police members grew suspicious when they saw a car parked in a ditch in Kliprivier.  On investigating the car they found an off-duty policeman, stationed at Ennerdale police Station, allegedly raping the 13 year old girl.  He had apparently abducted the girl using pepper spray to subdue her.

Lt. Gen. Petros, Gauteng Police Commissioner, must ensure that this policeman is not allowed back on the streets, and confirm his suspension.  The police/prosecution should strongly oppose bail and he must immediately undergo internal disciplinary action.

I will be submitting questions to MEC Faith Mazibuko, to establish whether this policeman had been involved in any criminal incidents before.  National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega has recently called for all cops with criminal records to be purged from the service, an obvious action one would think.

The  continuing horrific victimisation of girls and women must stop.  (Another Orange Farm girl (aged 9) was also raped and murdered last week.)  It is not good enough for Justice Minister Jeff Radebe to say he is “disturbed” by the rape of the 13 year old girl.  He must urgently introduce sexual offences courts which deal exclusively with these types of cases in order to get them resolved as fast as possible.  We need as many convictions as possible in order to create a deterrent to potential rapists.
