ANC uses Mpumalanga University as election ploy

Anthony Benadie MPL

Provincial Leader – Mpumalanga

The DA in Mpumalanga is outraged by the repeated public announcements pertaining to the Mpumalanga University, and that it will be ready to open for the 2014 academic year.

How can this be when the Mpumalanga University does not exist?

Apart from sensational public announcements on the establishment, location and name of this much anticipated institution, there is nothing more to the Mpumalanga University. The university only exists on paper as it doesn’t even have mandatory basics such as a contact base, accessibility to applications, or lecturers.

Although the DA has championed the establishment of a university in the province, there is nothing to get excited about as the government is merely painting a pretty picture of a university that does not exist.

Government has failed spectacularly in providing credible information and evidence that this university is a reality and is ready to operate. The intake of 140 students is absolutely absurd and is nothing more than an election ploy aimed at creating an illusion of delivery.

The Mpumalanga University must be an institution of knowledge to capacitate and retain the youth in our province and should not be used as election fodder for the ANC.
