Limpopo Premier, Stanley Mathabatha, must take steps to put Bela Bela Municipality under administration.
The DA has been reiterating the call for the finance department to intervene in that municipality following its failure to comply with the treasury regulations.
In a written reply from the Finance Minister, it was established that the municipality failed to table its annual report in accordance with section 127 of the local government.
Due to their non-compliance, National Treasury has also withdrawn the budget allocations amounting to millions of rands.
The municipality has failed to comply for the past three consecutive years notwithstanding that they have been warned.
The DA has already submitted a dossier to the department which contained incontrovertible documents on why the municipality should be placed under administration.
It’s clear that services at the municipality have been halted. It indicates that the ANC led government is not serious about taking services to the people.
The DA demands that Premier Mathabatha takes action and fix this municipality.
