No food or linen at Kalafong hospital

Jack Bloom MPL

DA Gauteng Health Spokesman

Relatives of patients at the Kalafong hospital in Pretoria have been told to bring food and linen as the hospital is short of both.

A relative described to me how she brought a pillow, sheets and blanket for her daughter in a ward where many patients slept on bare mattresses.

It appears that food is absent because of non-payment to suppliers and the linen shortage is due to on-going problems at the state laundry.

These shortages are outrageous and must be rectified immediately.

The Gauteng health Department needs to explain why suppliers are still not paid on time and why the linen problem has still not been solved.
