Phoenix community will not be fooled by MEC and his cohorts

The Democratic Alliance in KZN has slammed provincial Human Settlements MEC, Ravi Pillay, for taking credit for funding allocated for the refurbishment of the Flats in Phoenix.

The Phoenix Body Corporate Association – run by ex-Councillor Roy Moodley – is now being used to call meetings at which credit is being taken for the project.

This begs the questions – why is the Body Corporate Association being used as a front for the meetings?  Why doesn’t the ANC call its own meetings?

The MEC will clearly recall that I campaigned for funding over several years and even took him on a site inspection in Phoenix.

It was through persistent pressure by the DA that the MEC and his department eventually allocated funding for this refurbishment.

Cheap politicking by the MEC and eThekwini May, Cllr James Nxumalo – who appear intent on misinforming the Phoenix community, will not work.

The actions of the MEC and his cohorts are deplorable.  To share a platform with party-hoppers, Ronnie Veeran and Roy Moodley, who know about the DA’s efforts – having previously submitted a list of flats for priority repairs to the Housing Manager in Ethekwini – is simply deceitful.

The MEC has been warned – the Phoenix community will not be fooled.
