DA Limpopo Provincial Leader
The DA has been reliably informed that Limpopo Premier , Mr Stanley Mathabatha has instructed Mogalakwena Municipality Council to postpone the special council meeting scheduled to take place this afternoon until the further notice.
In that Council meeting , the DA was planning to table a motion of no confidence against Mogalakwena Municipality Mayor, Mr Tlhalefi Mashamaite, Chief whip David Langa and other Executive Committee members fingered to have been involved in fraudulent activities and looting municipality’s funds during a council meeting.
Several section 56 managers were scheduled to be suspended following the outcomes of the forensic investigations report conducted by KPMG released early this month.
The reports implicates several top senior officials in the municipality.
The outcomes of forensic investigations into allegations of irregularities discovered the following against these officials:
- The procurement of goods and services through the Mayor’s office for the Mayoral outreach programme from discretionary funds amounting to R598 043
- Mayor attempting to stop a Special Council meeting
- Irregular appointment of security companies by the Mayor
- The controversial appointment of Ms Molala as the Acting Municipal Manager
Postponing the meeting by Premier Mathabatha , shows that Jacob Zuma’s ANC is not willing to uproot and fight against corruption but instead protects corrupt officials.
Mayor and his cabal have tarnished the image of the municipality by disregarding to take the quality services to the people of Mogalakwena.
In our motion, the DA were demanding all these executive members, the Mayor and the Chief whip to be recalled with immediate effect.
The DA calls on the Premier Mathabatha to reconvene the meeting and suspend those officials that are being implicated in the report if he is serious about fighting corruption.
