Education mismanagement by Zuma’s ANC denying education to Steinkopf learners

DA Leader and Premier Candidate in the Northern Cape

DA Leader and Premier Candidate for the Northern Cape, Andrew Louw, donated a school uniform today to a learner of Steinkopf Senior Secondary who has been denied to attend classes because she is wearing the incorrect uniform.

This small gesture will allow the learner to return to class and further her education but the bigger problem requires urgent attention.

Since the beginning of the year, some learners have been denied education periodically because they are wearing the winter school uniforms and not the summer uniforms. In this particular case, the learners’ parents cannot afford the correct summer uniform.

The DA believes that every child should have access to quality education. No child should be disallowed this right as enshrined in our constitution

Persisting problems in education management in the Northern Cape by the Department as well as Jacob Zuma’s ANC is robbing our learners of access to quality education.

The DA will demand that the MEC of Education in the Northern Cape, Grizelda Cjiekella, address this affront to learners’ rights to education in Steinkopf.

Where the DA governs in the Western Cape, we ensure that effective school management is a partnership between the Principal, the Parent, the Department and the MEC. At no point should the learner bear the brunt of poor political leadership or Departmental mismanagement.
