DA beats ANC for the sixth time

Anthony Benadie MPL

Provincial Leader – Mpumalanga

The DA in Mpumalanga scored its sixth victory against the ANC in by-elections, when Ward 15 of the Steve Tshwete local municipality’s voters returned us to the local council to represent their interests.

In a resounding vote of confidence, more than 94,6% of the votes cast were for the DA, up from 90% in the 2011 local government elections, despite the ANC’s efforts to cooperate with an independent candidate to split our traditional support base.

This overwhelming result is evidence that voters are not abandoning the DA, and the DA will never abandon our voters.  We take no votes for granted and will never stop acting in the interests of voters. Instead, voters are realising that a vote for the DA is indeed a vote for a better life.

The fact is that DA supporters are committed to building a united, prosperous and non-racial South Africa, free from corruption, nepotism and cronyism.

During the past year the DA beat the ANC twice in Emalahleni, twice in Mbombela, once in Thaba Chweu, and grew our support in Albert Luthuli.

The DA wishes to thank Ward 15’s voters for coming out in their numbers, and congratulates our newly elected councillor, Trevor Langeveld on his election.

We have the greatest of confidence in Trevor and are certain that he will serve the needs of residents with great dedication and commitment, making Ward 15 a safer and better place to live.
