DA to lay charges against Kwa Sani Mayor following distribution of barbaric video clip

Francois Rodgers, MPL

Member of the DA in the KZN Legislature / DA Constituency Leader for Sisonke

The Democratic Alliance is shocked by ANC Kwa Sani Mayor, Mdu Banda’s circulation of a graphic and explicit video of women being brutally beaten and decapitated.

The horrific video was circulated on a “WhatsApp” group reserved for Kwa Sani Council matters.

It is inconceivable that the Mayor should intentionally use a Council communication platform to distribute a barbaric video clip. It has absolutely no bearing on municipal matters and Banda had no explanation as to why he circulated it to Councillors and officials of Kwa Sani.

The DA leadership in KZN and its Kwa Sani Councillors are deeply offended by the Mayor’s actions.  We will be laying charges against Mayor Banda.

This type of reckless behaviour is unbecoming of a community leader and does nothing to build unity and create a spirit of ubuntu in our rainbow nation.

We demand that KZN COGTA MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube immediately fire Mayor Dube – he is clearly unfit for public office.
