Lift problems highlight need for new Natalspruit Hospital

I am horrified by the report today that doctors are forced to carry patients on their backs to operating theatres at the Natalspruit Hospital because of broken lifts.

This highlights the need for the New Natalspruit hospital to be opened as soon as possible.

The old hospital is increasingly a safety hazard for patients, with failing equipment and four out of five lifts broken.

Former Premier Nomvula Mokonyane promised that the New Natalspruit Hospital would be opened in July this year, but there have been repeated delays previously.

We need to know when the new hospital will finally be opened so that patients from the old deteriorating hospital can be transferred there.
