The DA congratulates the Rhinos rugby team from Hoërskool Nelspruit as well as their coach, Chris Mans and headmaster Mr Swanepoel, on winning the Beeld Trophy for Macro Schools.

Historically known as the Administrator’s cup, the Beeld Trophy is a symbol of achievement, motivating South Africa’s rising High School rugby stars to go for gold. This year 198 schools in Beeld’s circulation areas – Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West Province and Gauteng took place in the tournament.

In the first stage schools compete within their respective rugby provincial unions, culminating in the provincial finals.  The winners and finalists of each union then go through to the proper Beeld Trophy.

This was the first time that Nelspruit Hoërskool managed to bring the trophy home and the DA wishes to congratulate all the players as well as their families, teachers and friends who supported them.  This is a great accomplishment for sport in our province and the Beeld Trophy is a stepping stone on the path to becoming a Springbok rugby player.

The DA wishes each and every player success in their rugby career going forward.
