DA calls for harsh lesson to abusive teachers

Jacques Smalle (MPL)

DA Limpopo Provincial Leader

The DA is reeling with shock after learning through media platforms that a Limpopo teacher forced two pupils to drink their own pee in full view of  their class mates two weeks ago at Vondwe Primary School in Vhembe.

The teacher in question has to be suspended with immediate effect to avoid further trauma to her victims and their fellow learners who were also forced to watch this ordeal.

The DA believes that children are sent to school for their right to access education and not to face this undemocratic punishment that seems to exist in some schools.

As a party which that advocates for equal and democratic education, we will ensure that the Human Rights Commission engage this matter for necessary steps to be taken. We insist that the department  provide trauma counselling to the affected learners.

A school is meant to be a secondary home for our children and teachers are expected to play a parental role and not enact abusive behavior.

We  call on the department  to continue to investigate and  ensure a zero-tolerance approach to abusive teachers who excel in violating the rights of the children and their hinder their progress in education.
