DA sends condolences to road fatalities victims

Katlego Phala (MPL)

DA Spokesperson on Safety, Security and Transport

The DA sends its heartfelt condolences to the families of 16 people who died in a two horrible accidents that happened in Mookgophong and Malamulele over the weekend.

It is alleged that eleven people including three children died on the N1 road in Mokgophong when two vehicles collided head on and in Malamulele, five people including two drivers also died when their cars collided head on.

All these accidents are suspected to have been caused by reckless driving and overtaking in an unsafe place. Losing 16 people in one weekend is a clear indication that our motorists are not obeying the traffic signs on the roads.

The DA urges the department of transport MEC, Mapula Mokaba Phukwana, to identify accident hot spots across the province roads so that she can deploy sufficient traffic officials to these roads to prevent avoidable loss of lives.
