ANC spoiling for a fight

Mark Wiley, MPP

DA Chief Whip, Western Cape Provincial Parliament

It was quite apparent from the outset of yesterday’s Western Cape Parliamentary sitting that the ANC was spoiling for a fight.

By making deliberately provocative statements and distorting answers, they contrived to find an excuse to leave the House en mass in protest. It was obvious that this was a set-up as evidenced by the increased media attendance.

In reality, the ANC has been so badly mauled in every debate of this Parliament, that such an outcome to escape their political dilemma, was inevitable.

Given their constant questioning of the Deputy Speaker’s rulings and the contempt that was repeatedly shown to him, I will be tabling a motion in the House that the conduct of the ANC members be investigated.
