Premier must not just address but give way forward

Jacques Smalle MPL

DA Limpopo Provincial Leader:

The Democratic Alliance hopes that the premier will  provide solutions to the plethora of challenges facing Limpopo in his state of the province tomorrow.

Mogalakwena, Vhembe and Thulamela Municipalities recently received constant negative attention at the expense of the underprivileged.  Poor management, lack of experience in financial management, vexatious manipulation of the SCM procedures and political interference saw our people without services, therefore, the premier must use that opportunity to address the way forward.

The DA expects to hear the specifics of the Malamulele agreement and clear timeframes attached to it.

The Education system in Limpopo is shocking and needs attention from the highest office in the province.

As the text books saga continues, our children are still not receiving quality education as is their constitutional right. We expect that suppliers of feeding schemes that landed children in hospital for food poisoning be held accountable.

We also expect clear policies on learner pregnancy.

We encourage premier Mathabatha to reveal his corrective measures for the implicated in the damning management audit report that reflects on the poor and disintegrating state of our education system.

The alarming drought facing the farming communities in KZN and other provinces should also be a wakeup call for Limpopo. Premier must outline his plans to assist the Limpopo farming communities to ensure that food security is not threatened.

The DA hopes that the premier will provide incentives to SMMEs in Limpopo which could also play a major role in creation of jobs for the youth in particular. This will bring about sustainability of small businesses which will in turn offer long term and sustainable jobs.
