Selowe Primary holds classes in metal container

Jacques Smalle MPL

DA Limpopo Provincial Leader:

During an oversight visit to Selowe Primary School in Blouberg Limpopo, the DA discovered classes of various grades forced to take place in a (Click here) metal container, with some students forced to sit on the floor without desks or workbooks.

The school also does not have electricity and running water.

This comes after construction of new school classrooms at Selowe Primary, scheduled for completion in early 2014, was abandoned (Click here) by a contractor of the Department of Public Works in April 2014.

I have today written to the MEC of Education in Limpopo, urging him to institute an investigation into how an essential school building project has been abandoned by government.

Moreover the DA is concerned over shortages of educators and workbooks at Selowe Primary, as witnessed during the oversight visit.

The DA will ensure that MEC Jerry Ndou, takes action in this matter or we will escalate this urgent predicament to the National Minister of Education.
