MEC of Human Settlements in Emalahleni must come up with plan to ensure citizens living conditions are improved

Notice to Editors: Motion without notice by Bosman Grobler DA MPL, in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, on 05 March 2015 during oral questions to MEC’s. TLP Emalahleni:

Hon. Speaker

I rise to move a motion without notice on behalf of the Democratic Alliance, noting that:

The Municipality of Emalahleni is seen as a potential job hub by the unemployed and destitute, especially with all the mines around.

Further noting that with this potential comes the influx of labour from other provinces and neighbouring countries.

This particular situation causes a human settlement crisis as can be seen by the growing number of informal settlements around these mining towns. People are living in unsafe conditions with no access to basic services.

I move that this house compels the MEC of Human Settlements, along with her counterparts in the Emalahleni municipality to come up with strategies and plans to ensure that the living conditions of our people are improved.
