DA Limpopo Spokesperson on Health:
The DA has today written to the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Health, Mr.Goodman Mitileni, to summon the CEO of Modimolle MDR-TB hospital to give a full explanation for the massive shortage of protective medical equipment, food and water at the hospital.

Employees, visitors and staff are at risk of contracting multi –drug resistant tuberculosis due to a shortage of protective masks.

The hospital is the only TB hospital in the province.

It has also emerged that hospital workers are on the verge of embarking on a go slow strike as hospital shortage supplies run dangerously low.

This is totally unacceptable for the hospital management to neglect essential elements of protection against spreading TB inside the very hospital built to treat TB.

The DA demands that the CEO appear before the committee as a matter of urgency and be held accountable for the shortage and failing to put measures in place to avert the calamity.

We will be monitoring the situation and engaging the department in ensuring that the adequate resources are delivered to the hospital with immediate effect to protect our people.
