Greenside Clinic is open at last

Henro Kruger MP

DA Member of the National Assembly:

The DA welcomes the opening of the Greenside Community Health Centre in Dr JS Moroka municipality.

The clinic, which will service thousands of community members in Marapyane and Seabe was supposed to be completed in 2011 stood idle due to a lack of equipment vital for its daily function.

According to the Department of Health Annual Report for 2013/14, critical items were omitted during the planning of the project such as autoclaves, standby generators, benches as well as chairs in the dental department.

In a response to a DA parliamentary question posed to Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi last year on the 12th of September, it was confirmed that the R21 million centre was not functional and had not been handed over to the District Health service.

The DA has worked tirelessly and engaged with all spheres of government to ensure that the clinic does not become a white elephant. We will continue in our efforts to ensure that the department of Health provides every citizen of this province with adequate health care.
