Boitumelo library needs more than just books

By Kingsol Chabalala MPL,┬áDA Gauteng Constituency Head – Evaton and Sebokeng:

The DA welcomes long-awaited opening of the Boitumelo library in the Emfuleni local municipality, which is a positive step towards empowering the youth in the community.

However, we are concerned that the library lacks modern resources like computers, printers and internet access. While computers were delivered, they were not connected, and with technology being such a key role to educational development, it is imperative that every learner enjoys universal access.

Places of learning such as libraries play a key role in supplementing education. They provide an opportunity for learners to extend their understanding on any given topic and addresses their needs for freedom of education.

The DA therefore calls on Sport, Recreations, Arts and Culture MEC Bopape Molebatsi to ensure that the library is rendered fully functional with technological resources over and above just books.

By addressing the educational needs of our learners and equipping Boitumelo Library with modern resources will present learners with a fair competitive edge to their peers.
