By Anthony Benadie MPL, Spokesperson Culture, Sport and Recreation:
The following motion without notice was delivered in the Mpumalanga Legislature by the DA spokesperson on Culture, Sport and Recreation Anthony Benadie MPL, during the sitting today.
I rise to move a motion without notice on behalf of the Democratic Alliance.
The Steval Pumas travelled to the Western Cape on the 30th of May 2015, to take on the DHL Western Province in a thrilling Vodacom Cup final. The Pumas were crowned Vodacom Cup Champions after they completed a 24-7 convincing win over DHL Western Province.
Further noting that this is the 1st time the Pumas have won the Vodacom Cup after being the losing finalists in the 2013 edition of this cup.
As such, I move that this House sends it congratulations to our local boys for a job well done, and further call on the Culture, Sport and Recreation MEC to engage with her national sports counterpart on the prospects of the Steval Pumas being included in future editions of Super Rugby.
I so move.
