DA investigates conduct with exam papers and memorandums

By Dr. Tutu Faleni, DA MPL, Portfolio: Education, Sports, Arts, Culture and Traditional Affairs:

The DA is investigating serious allegations by parents of the Monchusi Secondary School in Morokweng.

According to the complainants matric pupils received memorandums for exam papers via Whatsapp messages. One of the pupils’ guardians told the DA he went to the school’s head master on 18 June to report the incident.

He also reported these allegations to the Department of Education’s area offices.

The DA once again sees the result of an education system that fails the youth.

The DA is concerned about allegations of intimidation and threats in an attempt to cover-up this atrocious act which undermines the integrity of exam results in the Nort West Province.

The DA will not ignore injustices, like the incident at Morokweng. In view of this incident and similar incidents during the 2014 matric exam the DA will motivate in the North West Legislature that  an extensive independent investigation into exam-fraud  be commissioned. We will investigate the matter and keep the Provincial Department of Education accountable.

The DA will be visiting the school today and will engage with concerned parents, pupils and educators.
