DA lodges complaint with IPID

By Pule Thole, MPL, DA Provincial Spokesperson on Safety:

The Democratic Alliance will today lodge a complaint with the police watch-dog the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).

This follows media reports that a 48 year-old man alleged to have poured petrol over his wife and setting her alight killing two people in the process, was unaccompanied by police while he was transported by ambulance from Kuruman to Kimberley for medical treatment.

The DA believes the police neglected their duties and failed to comply with the Police Code of Conduct and as such we are dissatisfied about poor service given by the police in this incident.

It is clear this man is a risk not only to himself but to society as a whole leaving him alone in the hands of the medical personnel only is not acceptable.

The DA condemns any form of violence especially to the most vulnerable in society women and children.

We also call for justice to be served and a speedy trial for the sake of the victims and their families.
