ANC must explain use of municipal resources for Mandela Day event

By Sizwe Mchunu, MPL, Leader of the DA in the KZN Legislature/ DA Constituency Leader for Msunduzi:

THE DA in KZN demands a full explanation from Msunduzi Mayor, Chris Ndlela, following the use of municipal mini buses to transport ANC party members to a Mandela Day event in the city on Saturday.

The incident was witnessed by a DA delegation, including myself, during a clean-up in the area as part of our own Mandela Day activities.

The vehicles in question were clearly marked with municipal number plates while the occupants were dressed in ANC regalia.

This is by no means an isolated incident.  There have been numerous instances before where the ANC has abused municipal resources.

This latest instance has again highlighted the ANC’s inability to separate its state and party obligations.

More importantly, it is a fundamental contradiction of the values of former statesman, Nelson Mandela.

The DA demands an explanation from the Mayor.  We also expect answers from Msunduzi’s Municipal Manager, Mxolisi Nkosi, who, just four days ago received the Premier’s award for KZN’s best municipal manager.

We will not tolerate such blatant abuse of taxpayers’ money.
