DA concerned after municipal vehicles are repossessed due to non-payment

By Cllr. Eddie Barlow, DA Caucus Leader, Madibeng:

The Democratic Alliance in Madibeng is concerned after six, leased municipal bakkies were repossessed due to non-payment.

The six one ton bakkies were used by the Department of Technical Services, mainly for maintenance work on roads, storm water drainage etc. This is a huge blow for the municipality who already has limited capacity to function effectively.

The DA was reliably told that the vehicles were repossessed after the municipality failed to pay the leasing company for a few months.

Madibeng taxpayers are now suffering as services are under a further lack of service delivery. This is evidence that the management of Madibeng is not capable of managing its officials who display no pride in their work.

The DA will today write to the Acting Municipal Manager, Energy Manaka,  and urge him to urgently make the necessary payment arrangements and ensure that these bakkies are returned to the municipality.
