DA to conduct oversight visit of failed housing and toilet projects in Despatch and Missionvale

On Thursday, 3 September 2015, the Democratic Alliance will conduct an oversight visit of failed toilet and housing projects in Daleview, Despatch and Missionvale, Port Elizabeth.

The DA delegation will consist of DA Mayoral Candidate for Nelson Mandela Bay, Athol Trollip MPL, Winterhoek Constituency Leader, Marshall von Buchenroder MPL, DA Caucus Leader for Nelson Mandela Bay, Cllr Retief Odendaal, Ward 52 Councillor, Cllr Francois Greyling, Ward 31 Councillor, Cllr Penny Naidoo and other DA NMB Councillors.

Through council, the DA has been fighting for the people of Despatch and Missionvale in an attempt to give meaning to their Constitutional right to housing and sanitation.

For years, the residents of these areas have been without proper housing and sanitation directly as a result of municipal incompetence and political interference.

The DA will present a project rescue plan that it will implement once in government. In addition to this, the DA will also propose delay-prevention measures to ensure that all future projects are completed on schedule.

The event will take places as follows:

Date: 3 September 2015

Meeting point 1: Corner of Lamore Street and Kruis Street, Daleview, Despatch
Time: 10:00

Meeting point 2: Blue Container, Missionvale Road, Missionvale, Port Elizabeth
Time: 11:00

There will be opportunities for interviews and photographs.
