What to Expect – When you’re Expecting” Campaign at health facilities

On Monday, 14 September 2015, Health Minister Dr Nomafrench Mbombo will launch the educational campaign ‘What to expect – When you’re Expecting’ for expectant mothers.

The purpose of this campaign is to provide guidelines and education to potential and soon-to-be mothers about what they can expect at public health facilities from the day they are confirmed pregnant to the day the baby is born.

For any mother, having a baby can be a scary experience. However, if our clients at these facilities are aware of the different service packages offered, understand their responsibility in the process and that of the healthcare worker, they are likely to have a pleasant experience.

This is also an opportunity to introduce the importance of the First 1000 days in a child’s life, highlighting the importance of wellness of mother and baby, as well as re-affirm the services available to mothers and babies during pregnancy, birth and for the first two years of their child’s life. The concept is to outline the support available but also the responsibility of moms-to-be.

The interaction will promote the importance of the MomConnect application that is available as a major source of support for expectant mothers.

The Ministers will address expectant moms and launch this campaign at the Midwife Obstetrics unit at Vanguard Community Health Centre (CHC).

Media is invited to attend.
