By Katlego Suzan Phala (MPL), DA spokesperson for Safety, Security and Liaison:
The DA in Limpopo joins the community of Thohoyandou in celebration of the arrest of a gang that has been terrorizing this community as from the beginning of this year.
The trio linked to over 20 criminal cases ranging from car high jacking, house break, murders and rape.
The DA learnt with shock and disgust of the trio’s latest act of crime where they raped a 13 year old girl in full view of her parents. This is inhuman and such people do not deserve to be part of any society.
The targeted area in the Vhembe district was suggested as one of the areas that is the most-hardest hit by brutal crimes in the recent provincial crime statistics. Thohoyandou is said to have been the home of 55 murder crimes, 762 house-break-ins and 299 sexual crimes were committed only in the 14/15 financial years.
It is for these reasons that the DA will write to the provincial police commissioner and the MEC responsible for safety, security and liaison to ensure that such hot spots of this province are well equipped to deal with criminals of this crimes.
The DA poses her hopes that justice will be served. These must be kept away and we call on the police to present to court, a water tight case.
We will also make sure to keep an eye on the case and its development.
