By Jacques Smalle (MPL), DA Limpopo Provincial Leader:
Today marks the start of the National Senior Certificate exams for the matric class of 2015. The DA Limpopo would like to wish all matriculants the best of luck as they start writing their final school exams,
We hope it is indeed all systems go on the side of the learners’ preparations towards the exams.
Therefore the DA urge matrics to aim higher than just a pass and get a pass that allows you a platform in to university.
Students who are sitting for crucial subjects like Maths, sciences, accounting and economics, are carrying the hope for a brighter future for Limpopo and we wish that you do well in those and other subjects.
The current class must be mindful of the fact that last years’ matric class only improved by 1.1% from the class of 2013.
National Senior Certificate Examination Technical report indicate that Limpopo’s matric pass rate has shown a steady climb over the last 3 years
- 2012 – 66.9%
- 2013 – 71.8%
- 2015 – 72.9
We would also like to recognise the efforts of principals, teachers and parents who have provided support, guidance and encouragement leading up to this important milestone. Their efforts are crucial in ensuring the success of our Grade 12s, not only in their examinations, but also as they move forward to take on the challenges of securing their future.
This can be a very stressful time, and those candidates who are feeling anxious or stressed can speak to their principals about seeking counseling. School psychologists and social workers are available to provide support and guidance as required. No candidate should ever feel that they are unable to cope with the pressure of exams. It is vital to speak up and seek assistance if necessary.
