Adjustments Budget is a thinly-veiled pre-election financial plan

By Francois Rodgers, MPL, DA KZN Spokesperson on Finance:

THE DA today objected to the KZN Adjustments Budget as a result of two major concerns.

The first of these is that the Adjustment Budget perpetuates the problem of above inflation wage settlements.  This is indicative of the ANC’s failure to reign in the unreliable demands of COSATU unions.

The second is that the Adjustment Budget is littered with instances of departments pumping money into a host of short-term election directed projects.

If these projects are so important they should have formed part of the main budget years ago.

Instead, KZN’s people are being fed a line with the claim that government is meeting their needs through a host of quick fix schemes.

The DA is not fooled by this attempt to win votes through window-dressing.

The people of KZN will not be either.
