DA extends condolences to families of tragic N4 taxi crash victims

By Bosman Grobler MPL, Spokesperson on Public Works, Roads and Transport:

The DA extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the six people who were killed when a taxi headed for Mozambique collided with a bakkie on the N4 in Hectorspruit early this morning.

Both vehicles caught fire, killing six and injuring 9 people.

As we head into the festive season, it is becoming vital for Community Safety and Security MEC, Vusi Shongwe to make good on his promise to work closely with our neighbouring countries and provinces in order to curb the flow of un-roadworthy vehicles through the province.

This incident should act as reminder to all motorists that road accidents can happen at any given time or place, as such, they should remain alert at all times. The DA calls on all road users to obey the rules of the road, and to ensure that their vehicles are in a serviceable and roadworthy condition in order to avoid accidents.

The DA will continue to work hand in hand with government to ensure more stringent steps are taken towards ending the carnage on our province’s roads.
