By Joe McGluwa MPL, DA North West Leader:
Today, I have been sworn in as a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature. I thank the people of the North West, and my party, for the opportunity to serve in this Legislature.
There is no greater honour than to serve the people of this province, every day, and I welcome the chance to lead from within the border of the province.
I have come to the Legislature to hold to the fullest account the ANC of Supra Mahumapelo, and to stand against government corruption and failure to deliver to our people.
As Provincial Leader of the DA I assume the position of Caucus Leader in the Legislature, and I look forward to serving with my colleagues in the Legislature who are working hard to represent the interests of the people.
I have come to the Legislature from National Parliament, and I have previously served as a councillor in both the Matlosana Council and Cape Town Metro. Together with Patricia de Lille I spearheaded bringing the ID into the DA, building one strong and united political party for all South Africans.
The seat which I have vacated in Parliament will now be filled by Herman Groenewald (MP) who will vacate his seat in the National Council of Provinces, and Chris Hattingh (MPL) will now serve in the National Council of Provinces taking up Groenewald’s vacated seat.
I relish the opportunity to serve our people, and I will work tirelessly to grow freedom, fairness and opportunity in the North West.
