World Aids Day: ‘Getting the Western Cape to Zero’

Today, 01 December 2015 the world will commemorate annual World Aids Day. This day is set aside in order to for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died.

The Western Cape Health Minister Dr Nomafrench Mbombo will be launching the UNAIDS ’90 90 90’ strategy has been adopted by South Africa.

The aim of this strategy is to ensure that by 2020, 90% of all people living with HIV will know their status, 90% of those eligible for treatment with Anti-retroviral treatment(ART) will be on sustained treatment and 90% of people on ART will have suppressed viral loads.

Minister Mbombo will be joined by the Western Cape Social Development Minister, Mr Albert Fritz in taking this strategy to the Khayelitsha Community.

They will be assisting our healthcare workers at the testing stations, join in the festivities with the Ajax Cape Town Soccer team and address the invited members of the community.
