By Jack Bloom MPL, DA Gauteng Shadow MEC for Health:
I am horrified at the reported hijacking of an ambulance by armed gunmen last week in Tembisa.
Two paramedics were attending to a patient on Thursday morning when they were held up by two men who demanded the keys and drove off with the ambulance.
The thieves abandoned the ambulance after they crashed it into a nearby house.
I hope that police apprehend the hijackers as soon as possible.
It is utterly despicable that paramedics should be attacked and an ambulance stolen.
The local community should assist in tracking down the perpetrators who deserve a harsh sentence for their utterly inhumane act in attacking an essential medical service.
